Galerie Isabelle Lesmeister is presenting its first comprehensive solo exhibition by Hungarian artist Angelika Tóth (born in 1977 in Vác, Hungary). Titled “Nymph, Unseen,” the exhibition features expressive landscape paintings and subtle ink drawings that question the boundary between reality and myth. In “Nymph, Unseen,” Tóth plays with the tension between powerful brushstrokes and subtle, almost meditative lines. For the artist, the “inner path of painting” is characterized by conscious seeing and abstract perception of scenes. Her painting moves between expressive, dynamic compositions and impressionistic echoes that are nevertheless unmistakably rooted in the present. These are landscapes that do not so much depict as make the invisible tangible—places where nymphs are not seen but felt. Angelika Tóth has been a featured artist in the program of Galerie Isabelle Lesmeister since 2010. After countless group exhibitions in the gallery and successful presentations at international art fairs in the USA and Canada, this is now her first major solo exhibition in Regensburg.
